Sulekha Said is a Master of Arts student in Global African Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, specializing in Museum and Critical Heritage Studies. A Somali-American from the United States, Sulekha brings a background in environmental education and global studies, with a focus on integrating indigenous knowledge systems into heritage and museum practices. Her research examines museum decoloniality, alternative educational frameworks, and the politics of childhood, centering children’s experiences and environmental consciousness. She investigates how museums can preserve traditional ecological knowledge and foster creativity, empathy, and responsibility, aiming to connect African stories to a global audience while nurturing the next generation of environmental stewardship.
