Aliyu Mustapha Lawal, Lecturer of Hausa in the African Languages and Translation program at The Africa Institute, presented his research paper “The Stylistic Approaches in the Poetry of Sheikh Weld Bel Amash” on October 23, 2025, at the 11th International Arabic Language Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The conference was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, from October 22–24, 2025.

Lawal, who also teaches Arabic, examines the poet’s use of intertextuality, narration, and repetition, highlighting the aesthetic and literary significance of these techniques. His participation underscores The Africa Institute’s commitment to engaging with global academic dialogues in language, literature, and translation studies.

The 11th International Arabic Language Conference brought together scholars, researchers, and officials from over 85 countries. Nearly 800 peer-reviewed papers were presented across 122 sessions, alongside major initiatives including “Arabic Language Month” and the launch of the “International Arab University for Science Education,” promoting Arabic’s role as a global language of knowledge, heritage, and innovation.
