Monsoon: Journal of the Indian Ocean Rim, published by The Africa Institute in collaboration with Duke University Press, has been selected for the 2025 Association of University Presses (AUPresses) Book, Jacket, and Journal Show. The annual juried exhibition, now in its 60th year, honors excellence in the design, production, and manufacture of scholarly publications.

The 2025 competition attracted 575 submissions from AUPresses members worldwide, with Monsoon‘s latest issue—Volume 2, Issue 2, Slavery and Its Legacies in the Indian Ocean (November 2024)—recognized for its outstanding design.

The jurors, who evaluated submissions in categories such as scholarly and trade books, journals, and book jackets, praised the creativity and craftsmanship in this year’s entries.

Design credits for the issue include Heather Hensley (issue designer), Moloobhoy & Brown (identity designer), and Duke University Press (journal template).
