Global Studies University hosted its inaugural Career Success Workshop on February 10, 2026, for second-year MA in Global African Studies students from The Africa Institute, GSU. Held in the university auditorium, the session was led by Academic Affairs and organized by the Office of Career Placement & Alumni Affairs, in partnership with INJAZ UAE. The workshop introduced students to practical strategies for internships, professional networking, and early career opportunities.
Students were guided through the full job search lifecycle, including self-assessment, application strategies, interview preparation, and employment offers. They also explored the Ikigai framework to reflect on the alignment of their skills, interests, and professional goals, and received guidance on managing their online professional presence.
The session featured Reem Al Aryan, an ICF-certified coach and career advisor with over 14 years of experience in executive search and recruitment across the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. She provided practical strategies on interview preparation, recruitment navigation, and early career integration.
“This inaugural workshop demonstrates GSU’s dedication to preparing our students for professional success while maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence,” said Asma Omar, Career Placement & Alumni Affairs Officer.
“Guided by the university’s leadership, we aim to equip students with both advanced knowledge and practical skills. Collaborating with partners such as INJAZ UAE allows us to provide career-focused guidance that complements our vision of producing globally engaged and professionally prepared graduates.” added Sara Majdi, Director of Academic Affairs.
INJAZ UAE, the local chapter of INJAZ Al Arab and a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide, supported the workshop as a collaborator. Through hands-on training and mentoring programs, INJAZ UAE reinforced GSU’s student-focused career development efforts while complementing the university’s leadership and oversight of the initiative.
The workshop is part of GSU’s ongoing efforts to ensure postgraduate students are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary for professional success. Students and potential collaborators interested in internships, career planning, or partnership opportunities are encouraged to contact the Office of Career Placement & Alumni Affairs at studentscareers@gsu.ac.ae.
