Zaynab El Bernoussi, Associate Professor of Political Science at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, participated in the Central and Eastern European International Studies Association (CEEISA) 2026 Conference, held from June 17–19, 2026, in Sarajevo under the theme Contesting Imperialism(s).
At the conference, El Bernoussi presented her research on “state gangsterism” with co-authors Augusto Delkáder-Palacios of the Complutense University of Madrid and Karsten Römling of the University of Bonn. Their presentation contributed to discussions on state power, governance, and contemporary political order.
She also contributed to the book launch of the open-access volume Forgotten Friendships: Yugoslavia and the Anticolonial Francophone World by Aleksandra Perišić, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Media and Communications, Singidunum University, Belgrade. The volume examines Afro-Yugoslav solidarities and histories of anticolonial exchange.
