MA Students Connect Classroom Learning to Museum Practice at Zayed National Museum

First-year MA in Global African Studies students specializing in Museum and Critical Heritage Studies recently visited the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi as part of their History and Theory of Museums course, led by Visiting Professor Sabrina Moura, on February 28, 2026.

Students prepared the visits in advance and engaged as active participants, drawing their own connections between course content and the museum displays. They explored the Zayed National Museum narrative and examined links between collections, exhibition design, spatial organization, and gallery storytelling. This student-led, course-based approach fostered critical reflection and hands-on engagement with museum practice.

The visit reflects the program’s commitment to bridging academic theory with practical experience, providing students with first-hand insight into museum operations, cultural storytelling, and heritage management.
