Lubacha Deus is a Master of Arts student in Global African Studies at The Africa Institute, Global Studies University, specializing in Afro-Arab Relations, from Tanzania. His research examines the historical, cultural, and economic ties linking East Africa with the broader Arab world. Growing up along the Kiswahili Coast, Lubacha has long been interested in the centuries-long processes of trade, migration, and cultural exchange that shaped local societies. His work explores themes including identity, migration, religion, family, language, and commerce, situating East African experiences within wider Afro-Arab contexts. Through this research, he aims to gain critical insights into transregional dynamics while informing his work as an author, editor, and researcher.
“The faculty’s expertise and guidance provide clear direction and support across all areas of study. I particularly value the program’s focus on language learning. The Arabic language program is engaging and well-structured, helping me develop both confidence and proficiency. The GSU campus reflects the region’s heritage and culture, while its modern amenities create an environment conducive to focused learning and academic growth.”
