Book Discussion: Modern Sudanese Poetry: An Anthology

A book conversation on ‘Modern Sudanese Poetry: An Anthology’ was organized as part of The Africa Institute’s two-day Sudan Cultural Program on December 13, 2019. The discussion invited the translator and editor of the book, Adil Babikir, joined by Sudanese lawyer and Commissioner of Oaths, Kamal Elgizouli, and Sudanese university professor, Mustafa Adam. Film Screening and panel discussion: Talking about Trees

Talking About Trees is a 2019 documentary film directed by Sudanese film director Suhaib Gasmelbari Mustafa. It follows the efforts of the Sudanese Film Group, represented by retired filmmakers Ibrahim Shadad, Manar Al Hilo, Suleiman Mohamed Ibrahim and Altayeb Mahdi, who have decided to revive an old cinema, and again draw attention to Sudanese film history.

The film was followed by a panel discussion with Ibrahim Shaddad, Manar Al Hilo, Suleiman Mohamed Ibrahim, and Altayeb Madhi, and Dr. Yousif Aydabi, Advisor at the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Center for Gulf Studies. Read more.
