The Africa Institute will be participating in the sixth edition of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Focal Point art book fair between 24 to 26 November 2023 (4pm – 10pm) at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, a heritage site in Sharjah’s historical quarter (Click here for location map).
An initiative of Sharjah Art Foundation, Focal Point is an annual art book fair that places a special focus on UAE-based publishers and functions as a critical space for knowledge sharing and community building.
The Africa Institute booth will make our publications among other key works by African and African diaspora available for purchase. To browse through the latest publications, click here.
The three day book fair will feature a compelling selection of printed material by artists’ presses, bookmakers, self-publishers and non-commercial cultural producers. Audiences can look forward to publishers’ presentations, book launches, community workshops and author readings. Highlights also include the launch of new books published by the Sharjah Art Foundation, live print stations exploring nonfiction publishing practices and booths curated by independent art book fairs, including Miss Read: The Berlin Art Book Fair, Bangkok Art Book Fair and Recreo: Valencia Art Book Fair.
